Wazo Designs - Lindsay Locatelli

I'm drawn to creating wearable curiosities highlighting nature's peculiar spirit and character. Artistic visual cues range from the North's vast valleys and lush prairie lands with the Southwestern's boundless sun-drenched blue skies, adventitious cholla cactus formations, golden desert arches, bleached bones and neon cactus blossoms.

Lindsay Locatelli began as a graphic design major at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). Amid her years as a student, she shifted from working on paper to constructing her ideas into semi-functional objects. After changing her major to Furniture Design, Lindsay went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in 2009.

Following graduation, Lindsay took a brief artistic hiatus to explore the great Southwest. Over the course of a year, she lived in three cities within the state of New Mexico: Taos, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. During this stretch of time, she became akin to the extensive diversity of the state's climate, landscapes, flora and fauna and the varying lifestyle of living in these regions. Since her move back to Minnesota, her work continues to combine landscapes and natures curiosities - creating wearable objects of nostalgia and whimsy.
